Puerto Vallarta and Baja – two of Mexico’s premier tourist havens – have finally reopened to visitors after being closed since the beginning of March 2020. Tourists are expected to maintain social distancing, wear facemasks and adhere to other safety rules during their visits.

Many restaurants, shops, tourist attractions and other places of interest are open with limited capacities. In Puerto Vallarta, most businesses and public roads are only allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity, but bars remain closed.

Hotels and restaurants in Baja can fill their establishments to no more than 30 percent of their total capacities. Most beaches in Baja had to close again after a spike in COVID-19 cases, but beaches in Los Cabos have been allowed to remain open.

Costa Rica is Opening Borders to European Tourists, Aug. 1st!

Tourists from the EU and UK as well as Canada are welcome to visit Costa Rica again starting August 1. Commercial flights from the U.S. are still banned from entry because of the country’s high total of COVID-19 cases.

Even after reopening, Costa Rica is still expected to see a significant drop in tourism because of the pandemic. To be allowed entry into the country, all travelers must show a negative COVID-19 test result, complete an epidemiological survey, and acquire travel insurance. Masks or face shields are expected to be worn in public places.

JAMAICA & BAHAMAS – Opening

Not to be left behind when Mexico and Cancun reopened, Jamaica and The Bahamas reopened a week later.

Cruise ports are still closed, but you can grab your passport and an airline flight to these island nations for sun and fun. Travelers have to present the test results for a negative COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction test no more than ten days before entering the country.

If you visit after July 1st, no test will be required. You will still have to follow a series of safety protocols and your travel will be limited to the “visitor corridor,” a series of resorts and beaches kept safe and secure for tourists only. Discounts are offered when you book flight and resort packages.

These Caribbean Islands Are Reopening for Tourism This Summer

St. Lucia, Aruba and the U.S. Virgin Islands are among the Caribbean islands that opened again to tourists thanks to their low numbers of COVID-19 cases. Antigua and Bermuda have also reopened for tourism.

Each island has its own requirements for entry. For instance, the U.S. Virgin Islands will permit entry without any quarantine requirements if visitors can pass body temperature checks and other basic health screenings upon entry, while Antigua and Barbuda require proof of a negative COVID-19 test that was taken within seven days prior to arrival.

Cuba’s Reopening Plan Only Allows Tourists on Specific Small Islands, Away From Locals

You will be able to visit the Cuban Keys including Cayo Largo, Cayo Coco, Cayo Guillermo, and Cayo Santa María. All of the islands open to tourists are more remote and away from locals to help contain the spread of the virus.

Though you can take a charter flight to the island you are visiting, commercial flights to Cuba remain closed until August 1.

Travelers are not allowed to rent cars or take trips outside of resort areas, and people taking the bus from central Cuba will not be permitted to get off until they have reached their destination. Each hotel has medical staff on standby to monitor their guests’ health.

The Dominican Republic Is Now Open, Waiting for Tourists with great deals available!

As part of its phased approach to reopen after being under lockdown since April, the Dominican Republic began allowing tourists to visit in July. The order also allowed approximately half of the nation’s hotels to reopen with the other half set to reopen in November.

Stricter requirements have been implemented for tourists who wish to visit. Upon arrival, body temperature checks are taken to try to prohibit people who may be infected with COVID-19 from entering the country. The country is also encouraging or requiring people to wear facemasks and practice social distancing.

BULGARIA

The plan to reopen is part of the “New Era of Life Order Protocol” plan that was announced by Bali Governor Wayan Koster.

The “New Era of Life Order Protocol” includes a three-step process to ensure that tourist activities open in the safest manner possible. The third and final step of the plan is expected to commence on September 11, 2020, when Bali will reopen to international travelers. However, if there is a resurgence of the pandemic, the reopening day could be pushed to a later date.
